Two soldiers died in Makhmour district as an explosive device detonated, local media and security officials said on Thursday.
Security officials at the northern Iraq clarified that the explosive device was a bomb.
No group immediately claimed responsibility for the apparent attack, which occurred after explosion killed explosive device killed nine members of Iraqi federal police force who were on patrol on Sunday December 18.
