Police Inspector killed in a gunfire with hoodlums in Abia

An Inspector of the Nigeria Police Force died on Tuesday during a gun duel with unidentified hoodlums in Aba, the commercial city of Abia State in the southeastern Nigeria.

The incident occurred in Ohanku Road at Iheorji junction, said SP Geoffrey Ogbonna— the Abia State Police Public Relations Officer who stated that it occurred at about 12:30pm.

According to the police spokesman, the officers were on a routine patrol when they came under attack.

'Two of the assailants were also killed during the gun deal, while other fled with an AK-47 rifle.

Police alleged that members of IPOB/ESN perpetrated the attack but the group has refuted the claim.
