Spokesman for Kremlin, Dmitri Peskov said the United States and its allies is using the conflict in Ukraine to wage a proxy way against Russia.
Peskov explained to newsmen on Tuesday that the actions by the US and other NATO member countries, has prompted Moscow to boost its standing army to at least 1.5 million.
The boost is necessary to ensure the safety of Russia, said the Kremlin spokesman.
He said the "proxy war" against Moscow, includes, financial and economic war, indirect involvement in military action, and many more.
The United States have did not respond to the comment on Tuesday.
Russia's Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu suggested increase in number of troops to 1.5 million in active military service.
